The Inside Pass Mid-Season Update

July 8, 2010

The Inside Pass would like to thank all of our wonderful followers for your patience during the first half of the 2010 season. The year started off strong and we had a great time at the May Indy Tweetup! And we’re already working hard to plan the Winter Indy Tweetup – you’ll be updated as soon as we have details to share.

But throughout all of this, we’ve definitely learned one major lesson so far this year – “Life is what happens to you when you’re busy making other plans.”

We’re going to be honest. We jumped head-first into it, thinking we had the perfect setup and ready to ride it til the wheels fell off. We expected a perfect race without the test drive. Our only focus when we started this thing was giving the fans what they wanted. That remains our focus, but we’re learning that we need to learn. And that our lives outside of racing sometimes put us into the marbles.

The bottom line is this – The Inside Pass is still here. We’re working hard to plan a successful second half of 2010, but our main focus now lies on the WIT and the 2011 season.  We’ll be at most of the remaining races on this year’s schedule, with a goal of being fully prepared to offer you exclusive race coverage and an incredible Pileup at nearly every race next year. We want you to know that we’re committed to you and value your opinions. We’ve said it many times this year – What do YOU want? Tell us who you want to meet, what giveaways you want us to do, any wild and crazy ideas to make your race experience even better. We’re all ears.

Also, for the remainder of the 2010 races, we’ll be giving away the “Up Close & Personal” IndyCar calendars at the races we’ll be attending. The calendars benefit the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation and UMP (the funding source of The Inside Pass). So ask us for a calendar and please make a donation for SSPF, either in person with us or online at http://samschmidt.org/helpus/donations. The 2011 calendars will be available for purchase later this year.

Thanks again for your patience – we’re so excited about what lies ahead in 2011 and we appreciate the support we’ve gotten from each and every one of you. Have a safe and flat-out remainder of the season and continue to watch for updates from The Inside Pass!

Race Transport Selected: Video Camera

April 25, 2010

We took our new camera out around the Fan Zone on race day at the Long Beach Grand Prix, and it seems that everyone had one question on their minds…

This isn’t exactly what we had in mind…

April 10, 2010

Did you ever have one of those days? Cue the Daniel Powter music: “So ya had a bad day…

The Top Three things we learned today (BOO):

1. If you don’t have a parking permit, you need to park at the Birmingham Race Track and take a bus to Barber Motorsports Park. Don’t worry – it’s only a 12-mile ride.

2. If you follow step #1, you will miss quals.

3. If you don’t wear sunscreen, your Inside Pass shirt will not protect you from sunburn.

The great news is that The Inside Pass Pacesetters are some “glass half full” chicks. So buy us a drink already – our glasses are only half full. Where’s the bartender? We perservered, and here’s what we’ve got in store for you:

THE INSIDE PASS PILEUP – The inaugural Inside Pass Pileup will take place tomorrow (race day) from 10-11 a.m. at the IZOD IndyCar Fan Zone (click here for track maps – look for the Red Diamond Fan Zone on the Event Map). The event will be informal, as it’s our first one, but you’ll have a chance to talk racing, give your ideas on upcoming events, be part of The Inside Pass photo/video shoot, meet the Pacesetters and support the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation. After the Pileup, stick around the Fan Zone to sign up for IndyCar Downforce. If you’re already a member, feel free to hang out a the party for the pre-race festivities.

THE INSIDE PICSClick here to see some of the pictures from Day 1 at Barber Motorsports Park. And click here to check out Izod IndyCar’s amazing pics from this and all other race weekends.

FYI – we’ll be sleeping on the pit wall tonight, all snuggled up with our air guns, just to make sure that we don’t miss ONE SECOND of the action tomorrow. That’s an Inside Pass promise right thurrr.

Race Fans: This is your INSIDE PASS!

April 3, 2010

It’s finally here.

Have you ever had a secret that was so big… so exciting… so awesome that you couldn’t wait to spill the beans? And you knew that the moment you were allowed to tell someone that it would be better than… let’s not go there. It would be INCREDIBLE.

Welcome to that moment. WELCOME to The Inside Pass. From the girls who brought you the Winter Indy Tweetup & May Indy Tweetup

It started as an idea – a way to fill a gap – for the fans, by the fans. With some elbow grease and the help of some very special people, what started as an idea has become reality. And we’re so excited to share it with you. We created The Inside Pass for the same reason we organized the Winter & May Indy Tweetups: Because IndyCar fans deserve the best. It makes us happy to see you happy. Special thanks to our friends at IMS and IRL, the one and only Curt Cavin, and of course, Roy Hobbson. Thanks to each and every one of YOU who came to the Winter Indy Tweetup and have been getting so excited about the May Indy Tweetup! Hugs all around. Last, but certainly not least, as you’ll see in the “What is a Pileup” section, none of this would be possible without the financial support of United Medical Providers… we are so thankful for your generosity!

Take a look around the new site – it’s a work in progress, but we think you’ll be most excited to see that your tweetups are back (with a new name) and that we have SO much in store for 2010 and beyond. Also check out the “Contact Us” section – that way you can follow us on twitter, become a fan on facebook or email us with questions or suggestions.

We hope you’re as excited about this as we are. Good things in store, and they just keep getting better! If you’re at Barber this weekend, look for the girls in The Inside Pass shirts and come introduce yourself.

See you at the track!

Your Inside Pass Pacesetters,
Monica and Elizabeth
